Ava DuVernay born August 24 72, at Long Beach in CA. DuVernay was encouraged by her aunt Denise at the age of just a young girl. Following graduation, she attended the University of California Los Angeles which she graduated with degrees in English as well as African American studies. DuVernay began producing television news as a student. Her first job was working as an assistant at CBS News in the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay recalls being tasked to observe the house of one member of the jury, and then examine their junk. When she was dissatisfied with journalistic work by the assignments she was given and deciding to go after an interest in public relations. DuVernay began her professional career as a junior publicity assistant at a small film studio following her graduation from college. In 1999, she founded her own firm of public relations called The DuVernay Agency. Her agency launched numerous promotional and lifestyle networks that include Urban Beauty Collective and Urban Eye.
